As featured on social media, this seax is a true Viking-inspired blade and a one-of-a-kind piece.
The blade was forged from approximately 1,000-year-old bloom steel recovered from an archaeological site and legally acquired. The ancient steel was refined in a crucible and transformed into a wootz steel puck, following historical methods associated with early Nordic and Viking-era metallurgy.
To remain faithful to traditional techniques, bone was added to the crucible during the smelting process to increase the carbon content and create a blade true to its historical roots.
The sheath was entirely handmade by Alyssa @skateelf and crafted specifically for this blade. The sheath is dipped in wax for durability and is molded to the knife, keeping it snug in the sheath. Can be wore on right side or left side as a cross draw.
This is not a production knife—it's a unique piece of functional history that cannot be duplicated.
